EnBridge Natural Gas Offering Home Energy Audits?

Eco Energy audits are not just preformed in Ontario or even Canada, they analyze homes throughout the world.

We stumbled on an interesting story from Ohio news the other day regarding residents and their natural gas company (Columbia).  Apparently their local gas company is supplying home audit to any resident that would like to fully understand the efficiency of their home.  The audit is subsidized and only cost the home owner $50, but that is refundable if they make any of the recommended changes withing 30 days of the energy audit.

Why would they do this you ask?

Well I bet its smart marketing, now not only can they show homeowners how much natural gas they are using they can now show them how much they are saving.  Savings is always easier to sell then how much you are using!  Also as we all know stewardship is green and green is important in many consumer minds.  How can Enbridge you be seen as green when they are selling a fossil fuel?  Of Course! Help your consumers reduce their usage.

Logistics of this in Ontario..

Currently the Energy Audit Program is partially funded by the Government, an initial audit that would cost a home owner $300 is subsidized $150 by the Province.  If EnBridge Gas was to get involved and kick in an additional $100 the audit would only cost each home owner $50.  That sort of a price is a steal and its a win win situation.  EnBridge gains access to potential new clients and forges lasting relationships while homeowners are able to save on their home heating bills.

Well lets hope that this program somehow makes its way here to Ontario and Enbridge catches light of it… There would certainly be a significant benefit to all Ontario residents and clients of Enbridge gas.
